Key numbers (2026 Q2). Credit card, accounts assessed interest: 22.15%. Personal loan, 24-month: 11.86%. New car loan, 60-month at commercial banks: 7.14%. A card balance costs about 10 points more a year than a personal loan, on average. That gap is why debt consolidation can save money, but only if the new rate and term beat the old one for your credit profile.
