What we publish

Financialist explains money rules that affect real decisions, starting with debt collection, statutes of limitations and wage garnishment in each state. We write for people dealing with the problem right now, in plain language.

How we research

• Every rule comes from a primary source: a statute, a regulation, or an official government page. We link it next to the rule.
• We read the current text of the law, not summaries from other websites.
• Each page shows the date it was last checked and what changed.
• Pages are re-checked on a regular cycle and whenever a law changes.

Who reviews our pages

Reviewer profiles are being added. Until then, pages are researched and checked against primary sources by the Financialist editorial team.
