The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issued on Oct. 5 its list of state nonmember banks recently evaluated for compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act. The list covers evaluation ratings the FDIC assigned in July 2026.

The Community Reinvestment Act is a 1977 law that requires the FDIC to assess how well a bank meets the credit needs of its whole community, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, consistent with safe and sound operations. Congress required public disclosure of each evaluation and rating under the 1989 FIRREA law.

The FDIC says anyone can get a consolidated list of all state nonmember banks whose evaluations have been made public since July 1, 1990, with their ratings, from its Public Information Center at 877-275-3342 or 703-562-2200. An individual bank's evaluation is available from the bank on request, which the bank is required by law to provide, or from the same FDIC office.

For a customer, the rating is one data point about a bank's local lending record, such as mortgages and small-business loans in your area. It does not measure a bank's safety, and it is separate from FDIC deposit insurance. The FDIC release itself contains the list as an attachment, and it does not summarize the results.
