CVR Partners, LP has reported a net loss of $11 million for the third quarter of 2026, a stark contrast to the net income of $43 million recorded in the same period last year. The company’s earnings per common unit dropped to $1.02 from $4.08, reflecting significant operational challenges. This downturn is attributed to a planned 41-day turnaround at its East Dubuque facility, which was completed in mid-October. The company also announced a cash distribution of $1.79 per common unit for the quarter.
Based in Sugar Land, Texas, CVR Partners, LP is a Delaware limited partnership that operates in the agricultural chemicals sector, specifically focusing on the production of nitrogen fertilizer products. The company primarily produces urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) and ammonia, essential for enhancing crop yield and quality. It trades under the ticker UAN on the New York Stock Exchange.
According to the recent SEC filing, CVR Partners reported EBITDA of $20 million on net sales of $146 million for Q3 2026. This is a decline from the previous year's EBITDA of $71 million on net sales of $164 million. The company’s President and CEO, Dane Neumann, noted that the turnaround at the East Dubuque facility was executed as planned and included upgrades to the facility's water systems and a brownfield ammonia capacity expansion project.
Neumann commented, “Despite the downtime associated with the turnaround, we had another quarter of solid results, and we are pleased to declare a cash distribution of $1.79 per common unit for the third quarter.” He highlighted that the fall harvest is underway in the Corn Belt, where supplies of nitrogen fertilizers remain tight, contributing to increased prices since summer.
During the third quarter, CVR Partners produced a total of 175,000 tons of ammonia, with 46,000 net tons available for sale. This production was down from 208,000 tons in Q3 2025, largely due to the planned turnaround. The average realized gate prices for ammonia increased by 20% to $637 per ton, while UAN prices decreased by 11% to $309 per ton compared to the previous year.
CVR Partners also announced that the Board of Directors of its general partner declared a cash distribution of $1.79 per common unit, which will be paid on November 23, 2026, to unitholders of record as of November 16, 2026. This distribution reflects the company’s variable distribution model, which can fluctuate based on operational performance and market conditions.
The filing indicates that the company will continue to monitor market conditions as it navigates the impacts of the turnaround and ongoing demand for nitrogen fertilizers. Future earnings calls will likely address these developments and provide insights into the company’s strategic direction.
