The Federal Trade Commission said Thursday it is sending more than $15.8 million to customers of Cleo AI, a cash advance app. The agency plans to pay 2,124,796 people who paid for eligible instant cash advances.
The FTC’s March 2025 complaint alleged that Cleo advertised access to "hundreds of dollars" in cash advances when almost no one received amounts close to that. It also alleged hidden fees for same-day or instant advances that often arrived the next day, and subscriptions that were hard to cancel.
Eligible customers will get an email between now and October 26, 2026. The FTC will begin sending PayPal payments on October 27, and recipients should redeem them within 30 days. The refund administrator is Rust Consulting at 877-788-4958.
The FTC says it never requires anyone to pay money or give account information to receive a payment. A message that asks for either is not from the refund program.
