Apply again even if you received help last winter

Wyoming LIEAP is accepting applications October 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027. The Department of Family Services says a new application is required each heating season. Assistance covers part of winter heating costs and is not a promise to pay every utility balance.

The state lists Wyoming residence and household income at or below 60% of state median income for seasonal eligibility. Homeowners, renters and residents of permanently parked RVs may apply. The award depends on energy needs, income and household size; seasonal benefits do not pay bills from before October 1, 2026.

Confirm the crisis requirement with the program

Crisis assistance has a recent-payment rule. The live page says at least one verifiable utility payment within the past 60 days, while the linked September handout states a 10%-of-gross-monthly-income payment threshold. Because those instructions differ materially, applicants should confirm the current requirement with LIEAP at 800-246-4221 rather than rely on the easier version.

Seasonal benefits may be used through May 31, 2027 or until exhausted. Weatherization consideration follows LIEAP approval but does not guarantee that service, which has separate guidelines and capacity limits. Keep household income and recent utility-payment evidence and verify the program instructions for the specific type of help requested.
