Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti announced October 13, 2026 that Tennessee joined a coalition of 45 states and territories seeking court approval of settlements with generic drug makers Ascend Laboratories, Citron Pharma and Mayne Pharma. The settlements resolve allegations of a conspiracy to inflate prices, reduce competition and restrain trade in generic prescription drugs.
Ascend will pay $400,000 and Mayne $650,000. Citron’s settlement carries injunctive terms that apply if it re-enters the generic drug business. All three agreed to internal reforms to promote antitrust compliance. Earlier settlements with Sandoz, Glenmark, Lannett, Bausch, Apotex, and Heritage and its parent Emcure total $496.5 million, per the release.
Consumers who bought certain generic prescription drugs in the U.S. between May 2009 and December 2019 may be eligible for compensation.
