The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday that Snow Peak USA is recalling about 100 Takibi propane inserts with lava rocks, model ST-332-US. CPSC says the rocks can ignite and explode when heated in the insert, which poses a risk of serious injury or death from burns and fire. The firm has one report of exploding lava rocks, with minor property damage and no injuries.
The insert lets the Pack & Carry Fireplace L (ST-032) and XL (ST-034) run on propane. The fireplaces themselves are not recalled. The model number is on the packaging and in the manual. The product sold on snowpeak.com in July 2026 for about $350.
Owners should stop using the insert and rocks now. Snow Peak will provide a prepaid label for a full refund. Anyone who wants to keep the insert can instead get replacement lava rocks, and should not use the insert until they arrive. Contact Snow Peak USA at 888-424-4916 or info@snowpeak.com. This is recall 27-021.
