Deposit retention and notice conditions define the class

The SELA Realty Florida settlement sets November 22, 2026 for claims, exclusions and objections. Its notice describes tenants in the April 4, 2021 through April 4, 2025 period whose security deposits were partly retained and who may not have received the required certified-mail notice within 30 days after moving out.

The proposal lists $141,793.77 in cash payments and $669,408.48 in debt relief. Eligible claimants seek 60% of the retained security deposit under the notice terms. The cash figure and erased-debt figure are different benefits, not two sums paid into every tenant's bank account.

Debt relief is not the whole cash fund

Debt relief concerns outstanding balances for people who moved out before December 31, 2024. A claim is required to obtain cash. Doing nothing produces no settlement payment while potentially releasing claims after approval. The homepage reverses the class-period date order in one paragraph; use the notice and confirm boundary questions with the administrator.

Approval is scheduled December 2 at 9 a.m. SELA denies wrongdoing, and the court has not decided the merits. Keep the lease, deposit accounting and notice records, and check the form requirements rather than assume a former Florida rental address alone qualifies or that all landlord balances are automatically forgiven.
