Loan cancellation is different from extra cash

The Navy Federal unauthorized-personal-loan settlement has two tracks. The administrator describes automatic loan cancellation, requests to delete related credit reporting, and refunds of loan payments. An additional $250 requires a claim form. Doing nothing is therefore not identical to claiming every available benefit.

The case concerns members provided qualifying unauthorized personal loans after alleged impersonation and transfers to third parties. The notice covers a defined group involving loans between January 1, 2023 and January 31, 2025, with additional conditions. It is not a payout for every Navy Federal member or every fraud report. Navy Federal denies liability.

Use the notice to identify the affected loan

The extra-payment form must be postmarked by November 29, 2026; the website also provides an online submission route. Exclusion and objection have an earlier November 9 deadline. Match the loan account in your notice and read the complete class definition before making any sworn statement.

The automatic benefits remain part of a proposed settlement subject to final approval. A request to delete credit reporting is not the same thing as confirmation that every bureau has already removed an entry. Check account and credit records separately, and retain your notice and submission record instead of assuming all relief has already landed.
