Western Copper & Gold Corporation has announced a significant leadership transition, with Sandeep Singh stepping down as President and Chief Executive Officer effective October 31, 2026. This change is expected to influence the company's strategic direction as it continues to advance its key project in the Yukon.

Mark E. Smith, currently the Chairman of the Board, will take over as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Michael Psihogios, who has been serving as Chief Financial Officer since August 2024, will assume the role of President in addition to his current responsibilities. The Board of Directors will initiate a search for a permanent CEO.

This transition comes at a critical time as the company is actively working on the Casino copper-gold project, which is considered one of the most significant undeveloped copper-gold projects globally. The project is currently undergoing a review by the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB), and engineering design and optimization work is ongoing.

As of September 30, 2026, Western Copper & Gold reported having over C$120.6 million in cash and investments, positioning the company well to navigate this leadership change while continuing its project development efforts.

Mark E. Smith expressed confidence in the Casino project, stating, "Casino is one of the most significant undeveloped copper-gold projects I have worked on in my career, and the Board and I are fully committed to advancing it." He emphasized the importance of ongoing engagement with First Nations and the Government of Yukon as part of the company's operational strategy.

Smith's extensive experience in the mining industry, including nearly 25 years leading Vector Engineering, will be crucial as he steps into the interim CEO role. He has also worked closely with various mining companies, including BHP and Rio Tinto, and has a strong background in technical review and advisory roles.

Michael Psihogios brings over 20 years of mining industry experience to his new position as President. He has played a key role in advancing the Casino project and has a history of successful leadership in corporate finance and investment banking within the mining sector.

Looking ahead, the company will continue to focus on the Casino project while navigating this leadership transition. The filing does not specify the timeline for the search for a new CEO or any additional changes that may follow.
