AuguStar Variable Account A has announced significant changes involving three reorganizations of its investment portfolios. These changes are set to take effect on December 18, 2026, and aim to enhance the performance and cost-effectiveness of the portfolios involved. This decision is crucial as it directly impacts contract holders who have allocated funds to the affected portfolios.
The reorganizations were approved by the Board of Directors of the AuguStar Variable Insurance Products Fund, Inc. The Board concluded that each reorganization is in the best interests of the portfolios involved. The total annual operating expenses of the survivor portfolios are expected to be the same or lower than those of the target portfolios.
Details of the reorganizations include the transfer of assets from several target portfolios to their corresponding survivor portfolios. For instance, the AVIP Fidelity Institutional AM® Equity Growth Portfolio will be merged into the AVIP BlackRock Advantage Large Cap Growth Portfolio. Similarly, the AVIP AB Relative Value Portfolio will transition to the AVIP S&P 500® Index Portfolio, and the AVIP BlackRock Advantage Small Cap Growth Portfolio will merge into the AVIP AB Small Cap Portfolio.
Contract holders are being notified of these changes as they may affect their investments. The notice indicates that the changes will occur automatically, and any future allocations under the affected contracts will also be updated accordingly. Investors do not need to take any action unless they wish to reallocate their contract value to other portfolios.
From October 19, 2026, through February 16, 2027, contract holders will have the opportunity to make one transfer of contract value out of a target portfolio or the corresponding survivor portfolio without incurring charges or affecting transfer limits. This flexibility provides investors with options as the reorganizations take place.
The filing also emphasizes that the reorganizations may be postponed or abandoned under certain circumstances. Investors are encouraged to keep informed about these changes and how they may impact their investment strategies.
In summary, AuguStar Variable Account A's decision to reorganize its investment portfolios reflects a proactive approach to optimizing fund performance and managing costs for its investors. As the financial landscape evolves, such adjustments are essential for maintaining competitiveness and meeting investor expectations.
For more information, an Information Statement/Prospectus detailing the reorganizations will be available on or about November 20, 2026, at augustarfund.com, and a free copy can be requested by calling the company.
