The IRS said on Oct. 7 that it is highlighting its partnership with the United Kingdom's tax whistleblower program. The IRS says its Whistleblower Office shared expertise that helped the UK program get established quickly.
The UK program, run by His Majesty's Revenue and Customs and called the Strengthened Reward Scheme, launched in November 2025. It is meant to encourage reports of serious tax avoidance and evasion involving the wealthiest individuals and largest businesses. IRS Chief Executive Frank Bisignano said the collaboration will help deter large-scale, cross-border tax evasion.
The IRS says modern evasion often relies on offshore accounts, shell companies and transfers split across countries, which are hard for investigators to trace. It says insiders such as accountants, bankers and executives can supply specific, credible information that helps tax authorities see through those structures.
The release is about cooperation between agencies. It does not announce a new reward level or filing rule for U.S. taxpayers, and it does not describe any case. People who believe they have information about large-scale tax evasion can find the IRS Whistleblower Office's process on irs.gov.
