The recall includes several cheese varieties
Hawaii health officials alerted residents October 2 to Sierra Nevada Cheese Company recalled Graziers raw-milk cheeses: Monterey Jack, Jalapeno Jack, Medium Cheddar and Sharp Cheddar. The concern is potential E. coli O26:H11 contamination. The products were distributed nationwide, including Hawaii retailers.
The notice says the company initiated the recall after FDA contact about an ongoing outbreak investigation. It reports 13 illnesses associated with Graziers Raw Milk Medium Cheddar in the multistate outbreak and no reported Hawaii cases at that time. Those are different geographic measures, not contradictory illness totals.
A store withdrawal does not clear home supplies
Recalled products may remain in home refrigerators or freezers even after stores remove them. Consumers should not eat or serve the cheese. The state advises returning it to the purchase location for a refund or disposing of it in a sealed bag, and cleaning surfaces that contacted it.
Use the official product information and packaging images to identify cheese, not our generic illustration. Anyone with symptoms after consuming recalled products is advised to contact a health-care provider immediately. The notice describes a retailer refund, not automatic compensation for every customer or a verified payment for illness.
