The model number controls identification

CPSC announced an October 1 recall of Gobi Heat rechargeable hand warmers, model UT3053, for fire and burn risks. The notice describes units sold as a magnetically joined pair and sold through GobiHeat.com from October 2024 through August 2026 for about $20 to $40.

Consumers should stop using the recalled units immediately. The remedy is a full refund or store credit equal to the purchase price plus 20 percent. A larger credit is not the same as cash back and should not be added to the refund as a second benefit.

Refund and credit are different choices

The official process requires obtaining a claim number and following instructions to mark the product "Recalled" and send a photo showing the marked warmer and model. Keep the claim confirmation rather than assuming every past buyer will receive an automatic credit.

CPSC says disposal must follow applicable hazardous-waste rules for the lithium-ion battery. Do not put a damaged battery product into ordinary trash or improvise destruction.
