Gardeners Basics of Spanish Fork, Utah, announced Thursday it is recalling one-pound bags of Waltham 29 Broccoli Sprouting Seeds because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The FDA posted the company announcement and does not endorse the product or company.
The company says its supplier notified it on September 26, 2026 that bulk lot #W4105 was recalled after the FDA found Salmonella in a sample. The seeds were also used by a sprout grower whose finished product was part of an FDA investigation into a multistate foodborne illness outbreak. As of October 6, Gardeners Basics had no illness reports tied to this product.
The seeds come in a white and green resealable pouch, net weight 1 pound (454 g), UPC 848137042889, marked "Packed for 2027". They were sold online through Amazon, gardenersbasics.com, TikTok Shop, Walmart, eBay and Etsy. Sales have stopped.
Do not eat the seeds or any sprouts grown from them. Seal them and any sprouts in a bag and throw them away. No return is required, and buyers who have not already been refunded can contact the company for a refund.
