Affected records define the class
The FinWise Bank data-settlement administrator accepts claims through October 29, 2026. The $2.8 million proposal concerns an incident around May 31, 2024 involving FinWise Bank, FinWise Bancorp and American First Finance. Eligible living United States individuals include people whose private information was affected and those sent incident notices.
A valid claim chooses documented qualifying losses up to $5,000 or a proportional cash-fund payment without loss documentation. Those cash choices are alternatives. A bank account, loan or familiar company name alone does not prove incident inclusion.
Documented losses come before residual cash
The website says if approved documented-loss payments exceed the net settlement fund, there will be no cash-fund payments and documented losses will be reduced proportionally. That ordering makes it misleading to promise an estimated flat check to everyone choosing the no-documentation route.
Two years of three-bureau monitoring may accompany either cash choice. Exclusion and objections closed September 29; approval is scheduled December 10. Benefits need final approval. Preserve the notice and loss evidence and do not confuse the gross settlement, maximum individual loss claim and residual cash allocation.
