QCR Holdings Inc. has made headlines with its recent announcement regarding the sale of three branches from its subsidiary, Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust Company, to BankIowa. This strategic decision is aimed at optimizing resources and enhancing the company's focus on markets that present the greatest potential for long-term growth.
The transaction involves the sale of two branches located in Waterloo, Iowa, and one in Cedar Falls, Iowa. According to the press release, the sale includes certain deposits and loans associated with these branches, amounting to approximately $140 million and $29 million respectively as of September 30, 2026. Additionally, wealth management relationships tied to these branches, representing about $153 million in assets under management, will also transition to BankIowa.
“This transaction reflects our ongoing commitment to strategically allocate resources and optimize our Company for sustained top-tier financial performance,” stated Todd A. Gipple, President and CEO of QCR Holdings. He expressed gratitude for the relationships built in the Waterloo and Cedar Falls markets but emphasized that this move would provide the best opportunity for clients, employees, and communities involved.

She noted that the acquisition strengthens BankIowa's presence in the Cedar Valley market, aligning with their commitment to deliver exceptional service.
The transaction is not expected to result in a material gain or loss for QCR Holdings and is anticipated to close in the first quarter of 2027, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Clients of Community Bank & Trust will continue to be served through their existing branch locations and will receive additional information about account and service transitions before the closing.
