Centrus Energy Corp. has reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, revealing a notable decrease in revenue compared to the same period last year. Despite the revenue drop, the company achieved a significant increase in net income, showcasing its ability to manage costs and enhance profitability.
For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, Centrus reported revenue of $55.5 million, down from $74.9 million in Q3 2025. This decline of approximately 26% was primarily attributed to a decrease in uranium sales volume and revenue from its Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) segment, which fell to $31.8 million from $44.8 million year-over-year. However, the company also reported a GAAP net income of $31.6 million, a substantial increase from $3.9 million in the same quarter last year.
According to the filing dated November 4, 2026, Centrus's adjusted net loss was $9.4 million for the quarter, compared to an adjusted net income of $5.2 million in Q3 2025. The decrease in revenue was mainly due to a significant drop in uranium sales, which fell by $16.4 million, while revenue from Separative Work Units (SWU) increased by $3.4 million due to higher sales volume and prices.
The company has also seen growth in its backlog for Low-Enriched Uranium (LEU) and High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) enrichment, which now stands at $5.4 billion. Centrus is currently enriching HALEU for the commercial market and has completed the manufacturing and shipping of centrifuges from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, ahead of its year-end target.
In a press release accompanying the filing, Centrus Energy President and CEO Amir Vexler emphasized the company's commitment to scaling up its operations. He noted, "The third quarter's continued execution across all facets of our business primed Centrus to achieve a critical milestone: shipping the first new centrifuge to support our commercial-scale expansion. This achievement, along with us demonstrating that we have a complete manufacturing supply chain in place, was reached two months ahead of our ambitious schedule and puts us far ahead of the competition."
Vexler also highlighted the strategic importance of the recent acquisition of Westerman, which is expected to enhance the company's operational capabilities and drive growth through commercial synergies. He stated, "We are now focused on scaling up our supply chain as we begin manufacturing and shipping more centrifuges from Oak Ridge to Piketon." This strategic move aims to diversify Centrus's business model and reduce risks associated with its expansion efforts.
Despite the challenges faced in the mining and quarrying of nonmetallic minerals sector, Centrus's performance indicates a strong potential for recovery and growth. The company is actively working to strengthen its supply chain and enhance its service offerings in both national security and commercial markets.
Looking ahead, Centrus Energy Corp. is expected to continue navigating the complexities of the uranium market while leveraging its recent operational advancements. The filing does not specify what happens next, but the company's ongoing efforts to optimize its supply chain and expand its market presence will likely play a crucial role in its future performance.
