The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall Thursday of about 1,150 Van Rysel GRVL AF bicycles sold by Decathlon America. CPSC says the front lock nut can loosen during use, so the front wheel can loosen or dislodge, which is a crash hazard.
The recall covers four adult gravel bike models: 8911304 (Sword Brown), 8911305 (Apex Beige), 8911308 (Sword Pink) and 8929130 (GRX Black), in sizes x-small through x-large. The model name and Product ID are on the barcode sticker near the bottom bracket. Affected bikes have a Product ID on the label under the frame that begins with 5.
Owners should stop riding and take the bike to an REI Co-op store for a free inspection and repair of the front fork assembly. Anyone who cannot get to REI can call Decathlon America at 415-408-5494 or email support.america@decathlon.com.
