Washington, DC's paid-leave changes took effect October 1. The Office of Paid Family Leave's current update sets the maximum weekly benefit at $1,100, down from $1,190. It lists ten weeks of medical leave and six weeks of family leave, each previously twelve.
The main Department of Employment Services page independently lists the same limits. A current law-firm summary gives a different medical-leave number, but both administering-agency pages support ten weeks. Workers should use current official guidance and verify their own transition claim.
Parental leave remains up to twelve weeks and prenatal leave up to two. The agency says the wage-replacement structure is unchanged and the program remains employer-funded without worker payroll deductions. Not every claimant previously received the cap or will now receive exactly $1,100.
The update points to further application-timing guidance without establishing every transition outcome. Someone already on leave should verify the award rather than assume all remaining weeks change identically. Two leave categories and the ceiling changed; parental leave and the funding structure did not.
