The model sticker matters

CPSC announced October 1 a recall of specified Cupcakes and Cashmere three-light floor lamps from Designs Direct because of fire and burn hazards. The covered model numbers are 7927-OZ and 7927-OZ1, listed on the underside of the base. Other lamps from the brand are not automatically included.

The lamps sold at HomeGoods from June 2025 through July 2026 for about $79 to $89. The official notice describes gold lamps with multicolor or cream glass globe shades and lists associated HomeGoods style numbers. Check the model sticker and official photos rather than identifying the recall by the retailer alone.

The refund clock starts with the proof

CPSC says stop using the lamp, turn it off and unplug it. Consumers are asked to cut the cord and provide a photograph of the destroyed lamp following Designs Direct's instructions. The company says it will issue a full refund within 15 days of receiving the photo proof, not within 15 days of the recall announcement.

Follow the official sequence and keep the submission confirmation. Do not cut a plugged-in cord, improvise a repair or treat another three-light lamp as covered.
