A benefit range is not every household award

Connecticut's Energy Assistance Program is accepting applications for the 2026-2027 heating season. The state lists basic benefits from $355 to $705 depending on household size, income and heating source. The range should not be reported as a fixed check for every applicant.

The current state page says benefits are usually paid to the utility or fuel vendor. Households using oil, kerosene or propane may qualify for additional deliveries, and other assistance can include matching plans, shutoff protection or equipment help under separate conditions.

Annual renewal is part of the process

CEAP is an annual benefit, so households must apply each year. The state lists a May 31, 2027 application deadline and several submission routes through local community action agencies. Income eligibility may come through qualifying benefit programs or the listed household-income limits.

Keep income, household and heating-account records and check the current application status. Deliverable-fuel authorization and paid-invoice rules have their own timing. An approved application from a prior season does not establish new-season approval, and an open application window is not proof that a fuel delivery has been scheduled.
