Pacific Health Sciences announced on Oct. 6 a voluntary recall of one lot of Babies' Magic Tea brand Baby Sleep Gripe Water, a dietary supplement for infants. The FDA posted the notice Oct. 7. The company says FDA testing of the lot found ethanol, methanol and isopropanol that were not declared on the label.

The measured levels were about 8.3 percent ethanol, 0.35 percent methanol and 0.48 percent isopropanol. The company says their presence may pose a risk depending on the amount consumed and the age and body weight of the person using the product. It says it has received no reports of adverse events tied to this lot.

The recalled product is the 4 fluid ounce amber bottle in a blue cardboard box with an oral syringe, lot number 25122bw, best before 12/2028. The lot number appears on the bottom of the box and on a side panel of the bottle. It went to Secrets of Tea and was sold through online retailers including secretsoftea.com and Amazon.

Parents and caregivers should stop using any product from that lot and either discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Anyone who has symptoms after using it should seek medical attention and contact Pacific Health Sciences at 310-457-1775 or myorder@pacifichealth.com, Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific. Other lots are not part of this recall.
